It's especially weird because I had absolutely no problem with handling in the DR demo. Maybe a little unweidly at times? Not unplayable, not at all, but it was off a tad. I did notice a few issues though: handling seemed a bit weird, especially on water. The bonus for completing the mod is pretty great, although obviously not intended for proper use. It doesn't dip to anywhere near unplayable levels, but it is noticeable when it happens noticed it mostly on Jungle Joyride. Frame rate stayed consistently at 60, barring a few spots in the more intensive levels my computer is not beastly, but I could consistently 60fps at 1080 on vanilla SG (excluding Chemical Plant's weirdness). I'm looking forward to the challenge of S ranking everything, to be honest. It even took me two attempts to get S rank on the tutorial! It took me maybe an hour to race through the main content of the mod, but like any good Sonic game, you should never base time spent on how long it took the first time.

I spent a good 3 hours not just trying to S rank the Dragon Road demo, but also trying to get as good a time as possible (I did get sub 3.20 at one point). It's hardly unforgiving though you can collect rings like no tomorrow, so the only real penalty is going back to the last checkpoint and missing out on that S rank.Īnd that's another thing. This isn't a sleight against the mod, but I do think it shows how the level design has evolved between Unleashed, through Colours (which I thought was really good fun) and then through to Generations. Most of it is because it's simply more difficult, especially in obtaining the optimum route(s), but I do think there are maybe a few cheap deaths. It's great! The first thing that hit me when I got into the levels proper was that they're really quite challenging.

Next time I play, I might have to force some AF, as suggested in the readme. Disclaimer: I have not played Unleashed, so I only knew what to expect from the various level trailers, the Dragon Road demo and an LP or two. Okay, so I resisted the urge of sleep (who needs it, huh?) to play this.
